The scope of the Bilateral Meeting was the announcement of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a potential cooperation in a number of projects across Iraq with Italian companies.

Agenda of the Meeting:

Introduction and Description of Memorandum of Understanding and Agreements between SACE and Iraqi authorities

Introduction of the Iraqi Corporates

Bilateral Meetings with Iraqi corporates and authorities.

The Agreement guarantees the projects of the amount till 1 billion euro to create the bilateral projects diversified range of high social impact sectors, to create Open Multitied Framework, including the banking system, infrastructure, energy industry, waste-to-energy management, hospitals, food, constructions, petrochemical, manufacturing, housing and associated facilities as well as other building projects and to encourage trade between Italy and Iraq as a whole.

This partnership will help SACE to identify future opportunities in the region where GKSD with Italian suppliers can bring substantial benefits.

Italy is the first country to sign this kind of agreement with Iraq.

The Prime Minister Al Darraji told that, Iraq has experienced a long season of crisis and insecurity, from which it is emerging thanks to the government, which is strongly committed to restoring stability to the country and it is in this new setting that the several opportunities for Italian companies must be evaluated.

The Iraqi government has taken important and courageous steps forward to implement an export credit program to support the private sector. The laws and regulations to issue sovereign guarantees of up to a trillion dinars to cover loans for the industry is a necessary commitment to allow the development of our production system.

The financing of the projects will be through Italian banks with the collaboration of  GKSD Holding, guaranteed advance payment for each deal, well treated by finance institutions, guarantees within end of 2023.

The projects are dedicated exclusively to private sector.
