The task for 2023 is the survey of the reduction of CO2 emissions as our competitive advantage.
To meet this responsibility, we need reliable and verifiable data on materials, components, and processes to quantify the CO2 footprint for our projects and to create necessary basis for targeted emission management while preserving the data sovereignty of all participants in the supply chain.
We want to make it efficiently and securely identify improvement potential and reduce emissions faster.
Scope 1 emissions: reduce the direct emissions from our internal sources- production part, waste management, internal transport channel. Objective to the end of December 2023.
Scope 2 emissions: Reduce indirect emissions- heating and electricity. Many organizations stop there. But we want to go ahead.
Scope 3 emissions: Reduce additional emissions related to company’s activities such as the indirect emissions for raw material and transport. It’s the emissions associated with all the goods and services that our companies buy. This Scope 3 footprint is much larger than the operational footprint.
We want to start to address Scope 3 more seriously, as well as we want to invest in carbon credible offsets projects to speed things up. We have already identified the collaborators for these projects.
Our scope is to set voluntary “net-zero” or science-based targets to reduce our emissions ahead of government regulation.
So, here are the steps of our business that we take today to reduce our emissions for our better tomorrow
1. We Recycle
We think about sustainable procurement like an important way in reducing consumption of items such as plastic, food and drink packaging and electrical devices.
We are reducing our food waste, that’s also important in this mechanism. Research has shown that the production, transportation, and handling of food waste generates significant greenhouse gas emissions and when it ends up in landfill, it generates methane which over a 20-year period, is 80 times more potent at warming than carbon dioxide.
We are setting up our purchasing from other businesses that support local farmers to minimize transportation.
Our Engineers develop the composted prototype to reduce the consumption and help to promote the waste energy. This make a part of scope 1 emissions.
2. We Invest in renewables
One of the smoothest and simplest ways for our business to reduce our carbon footprint is that we switched to a green energy tariff from our energy suppliers. We contracted the local energy providers, that buy from renewable energy sources.
Environmental impact – renewable energy means less pollution, less CO2 and less harm to the planet. This make a part of scope 1 emissions.
3. We evaluate our supply chain
We take an attention on suppliers that work with like-minded businesses and share our goals for reducing your carbon footprint.
We are struggling to evaluate our supply chain, companies by analysing our current supply chain and reviewing contracts with our suppliers.
4. We make on local and sustainable sourcing preference
Favoring local sourcing is for us a great way to drive positive change in our business.
Benefit’s aspects of sustainability of local sourcing: efficiently reducing the carbon miles from transport and optimally using local information to choose between suppliers.
Many our local supplier companies initiate a continuous solidarity sourcing program.
5. We are conscious of our digital footprint
Every action we take online impacts the environment in some way.
Researchers estimate that a typical email has a carbon footprint of around 4g of CO2 emissions and one with a larger attachment might be ten times more than that.
We want to be mindful of how we use digital systems is therefore important.
You start by consider whether sending certain emails is necessary. We prefer to use of file transfer sites rather than sending attachments can also help to reduce your company’s footprint.
6. We educate ourselves
One of the best ways businesses can become greener is to educate our about sustainable practices. We focus our attention on learning more about how we can reduce our impact on the environment. We are also running a series of lunch and learns focusing on different topics with the aim of helping business on our Net Zero journey.
We set these Carbon Reduction Targets and we will make a monitoring of our improvement in reduction of our Carbon Foot Print. These points are our guide of our efforts in becoming more environmentally conscious.
Becoming familiar with the process of setting and achieving these goals is an imperative initial step in any successful long-term carbon reduction strategy.
We will engage in extensive data collection about where our CO2 emissions are coming from and how they impact all of our processes, both internally and externally, as a company.
